The Eight Heroes

Silrun Pepin

The 18 year old hero of the story. He, like many others has been chosen to become a "Chosen One", a warrior imbued with holy magic and must fight demons. Son of the previous Chosen One, Reilly Pepin, Silrun does not really care for the power but rather to seek revenge against the Dark Lord for killing his father in cold blood. Silrun bares a burning hatred towards the Dark Lord for killing his father when he was only a baby. Sometimes Silrun will use the alias "Ace Strife" to allow him to slip through the public with no problem. Due to his legacy, he believes the public would surround him, something he wishes to avoid. He uses this name to honour the couple who adopted him (his father's sister and her husband (boyfriend when Silrun was adopted)).

If Reilly died he wanted Silrun to be trained by a Samurai and a Monk, two of his oldest friends. As a result Silrun%u2019s primarily fighting style is that of a samurai as apposed to the Paladin. At this moment in time he is unsure why his father chose this path for him and wishes to learn more.

Silrun bares a birth mark on his left shoulder shaped as a wing. This is the mark of the Chosen One and the source of his powers. Although his powers have awakened, Silrun has no control over them and generally transforms under extreme stress or when his life is seriously threatened. He is unable to transform at will, which confuses many people. Silrun is searching to control his powers so he'll be able to rival the Dark Lord. This birth mark is also his biggest weakness both when he's human and after he%u2019s transformed. Should it be hit in any way, he'll be in extreme pain.

Silrun is skilled with the katana and his fists, though he prefers to fight with his sword. He also carries around Kunai (ninja throwing knives) and will often use them in a fight as he closes the distance between him and his foe.

Author's comments: Surprise, surprise Silrun is based on me. The reason I give him the Ace Strife alias is actually a tie to the older versions where he was always called Ace Strife (in "AV1" he was the brother of Cloud, an idea I scrapped for "AV2". He still uses that name in "AV2" but makes it up after not knowing his real name. He later learns its Silrun Pepin when he meets his father. Note that AV1 and 2have no ties to this one, Ace Version Three, except it uses a lot of the characters and ideas from the older versions). Silrun is based on my life long interest in Martial Arts and the Katana. Although the idea of him being a Chosen One is not new, I've tried to do my own spin on this. There is more to the character than I've mentioned but I want to leave some stuff for the actual story.

Yuno Imzadi

Silrun's 22 year old friendly rival. He was trained by the same people as Silrun but later chose to learn under a master of Ninjitsu. As a result, Yuno is a master of stealth and can use Nimpo from various ninja scrolls. He calls Silrun by the name %u201CTameto%u201D, which is the word for %u201CChosen One%u201D in his home village.

Using his martial arts training, Yuno has entered a number of tournaments and quickly rose to being the world champion. However he rarely gets the kind of challenge he wants in a fight as most of his foes are generally weaker than he is. Only Silrun can match him in a fight.

Yuno travels with Silrun for two reasons. One is the strong, almost brother like friendship between the two. They often spar together in an attempt to help each other grow stronger. The other is because Yuno once had a relationship with a summoner. However when rumours of a summoner killed started to circulate, his lover went into hiding for her own safety. Yuno and Silrun believes this killer is connected to the Dark Lord, thus, Yuno hopes that he can meet and defeat the killer if he travels with Silrun.

Yuno is skilled with the various kinds of ninja weaponry, though in tough fights will normally sit back preparing a Nimpo spell, leaving the main fighting to his allies.

Author's comments: When I wrote %u201CAV2%u201D, I posted it on a few forums. On one, a member named %u201CYuno Imzadi%u201D reviewed most of my chapters and gave me feedback. AV2 was broken up into a total of three plotlines and I decided to add in a character based on him into the second storyline onwards. Inspired by the %u201CSaiyan name%u201D from DBZ, I decided to have him called Silrun %u201CTameto%u201D (a play on %u201CTomatoe%u201D). I wanted to bring this idea into AV3 but was unsure how to develop it right. It is likely it%u2019ll change for the final version.

Erikson (surname unknown)

Originally a blue soldier, the 22 year old Erikson defected to join Silrun and co. Trained in various kinds of fire arms, Erikson is deadly at long range. He has a care free attitude, normally wanting to kick his heals back and relax. However in a fight he normally becomes the opposite. He is a close friend of Yuno%u2019s due to their similar age.

Erikson is known to use duel pistols, rifles, shot guns, sniper rifles and a knife in combat. The one he uses normally depends on the way the fight goes.

Author's comments: An old school friend of mine was a big FFVII fan when I was. Although he moved away, we continued to talk in Pen Pal letters and I later added the original AV1 story to them. He did his own and sent it back to me in his reply. I%u2019d then add another story, send it to him and so on. When we both got access to the internet, I started AV2 and started to e-mail that to him. When I was in the middle of the second or third plotline, he sent me %u201CBlue Soldier%u201D, a story set in the AV2 %u201Cuniverse%u201D. Ace made a number of cameos in it and in the later chapters of the third AV2 plotline, Erikson briefly appeared. I decided to add him as a main member of the cast in AV3. I never saw a surname for him in Blue Soldier and I didn%u2019t want to make one up.

Weapon

A 45 year old mysterious warrior. He approaches Silrun stating he was an old friend of his fathers. As the eldest in the group, he uses his many years of combat experience to guide the younger members, especially Silrun. His if the father of Mewrah and, aware of her feelings for Silrun believes she would be a good partner for him one day.

No one really knows what Weapon%u2019s fighting style is. He normally brandishes a sword similar to his daughters but no one knows where he stores it.

His past is also mysterious. No one, not even his daughter knows his first name. There are also some rumours that he is the descendent of a legendary dark warrior but at the moment nothing can be proven.

Author's comments: A returning character from %u201CAV1%u201D. In that he was called %u201CWEAPON Sephiroth%u201D, an altered Sephiroth clone with ties to the WEAPON monsters. Although he was like a father to Ace, he later turned evil when the WEAPONs awoke. I decide to bring him back for AV3 and given him a similar role.

Mewrah Weapon

Weapon%u2019s 17 year old daughter and skilled with the broad sword. Her combat experience and training isn%u2019t as much as the others but can generally hold her own in a fight. She can use most kinds of swords, but prefers broadswords. Generally she can swing hers around with no problem despite the general size of it.

She has a crush on Silrun and doesn%u2019t really keep it a secret, often make some form of slight advance on him. However Silrun, normally tied up with the thoughts of avenging his father and the responsibilities of being a Chosen One rarely notices.

Author's comments: A new character for the Ace universe. I prefer female warriors in RPGs to the (in my opinion) female white mages.

Jeremy Harvey

An 18 year old Paladin, Jeremy comes from a secret island of paladins and is the son of their leader Timothy. Out of all the people in the island, Jeremy is the only one why can wield Excalibur, the sword of the Chosen Ones. No other human bar Silrun can wield the sword, though Silrun he prefers to use his katana. This has lead some people to believe Jeremy has some ties to the Chosen One power, especially Jeremy.

Believe he should inherit the power, he often insults Silrun where possible, and generally the two have a tendency to argue over little things and generally hate each other for a while. However most of the time they get on well.

Author's comments: Based on a friend of mine who uses the screen name %u201CGolbez Harvey%u201D. Normally we are good friends but a recent minor issue has put a rift in our friendship. Despite my attempts at making peace he doesn%u2019t seem interested for now.

Leonard %u201CLeo%u201D Flute

An 18 year old red mage from a hidden village of mages, Silrun landed in the village after a battle with a powerful robot. Due to an incident in the past, the mages swore to only help the Chosen One and as a result, healed Silrun back to health. Reilly once stopped by the village and helped Leo%u2019s mother. Leo feels he owes Reilly a dept and chooses to assist Silrun.

At times Leo seems a bit distant compared to the others but generally gets on well with them. He normally fights with a sword, his magic or both. He is also known to carry around a small piccolo flute which he occasionally plays.

Author's comments: Another new character, this one is based on Piccolo920. He%u2019s basically a human version of Pic with a red mage hat. Not knowing what surname to give him, I chose flute as the original character he designed was called %u201CFlute%u201D.

Janine Odonic

A female white mage from the same village as Leo, although the two aren%u2019t related. She joins the group because as the leaders of the village feels Silrun needs a white mage on his group. A very shy girl, she also has feelings for Silrun though hardly lets anyone know about them (Leo, Erikson and Yuno suspect she cares for him but have chosen not to say anything for now).

Like all white mages, she can%u2019t fight but rather heal the group.

Author's comments: In AV2 she was introduced as a lover for Silrun. The two fell strongly in love until she was killed during Silrun%u2019s final battle with the Dark Lord, causing a turn in the hero. In AV2 she was a civilian. When I created a white mage, I suddenly decided to call her Janine. Her name comes from the Spider-Man comics. Janine was the lover of Ben Reilly, the clone of Spider-Man/Peter Parker (I%u2019m a fan of both Ben Reilly and the Scarlet Spider). Reilly (Silrun%u2019s father) is another nod to Ben. He has brown eyes and blond hair (Ben dyed his hair to prevent people from confusing him with Peter). At this moment I%u2019m swaying more towards making Mewrah Silrun%u2019s lover but I%u2019m not sure yet.

Other Characters

The Dark Lord

The villain of the series. Although he is the emperor of the main Hell dimension, he was sealed down there by the Paladins and the original Chosen One. He may only come to Earth if a Chosen One defeats all the Dark Lord%u2019s minions, proving his worth to fight the Dark Lord. The Dark Lord is immortal. If killed by a Chosen One, he%u2019ll simply be re-born in his Hell dimension. However some rumours hint that if the Dark Lord is killed three times he will no longer exist and get replaced by another. However it is not fully known how true this is. However it is known that Reilly killed him before he died and some sources have hinted another killed him before.

Author's comments: I know. I know. Clich� name. :iconDragon-the-Tribrid: suggested another name but in all honesty it didn%u2019t sound right.

The Dark Lady

The sister of the Dark Lord, it is said that when the current Dark Lord was made, his sister was near by and got sucked into the Hell dimension with her brother. The two had a falling out when the Dark Lord killed her husband and son after the Dark Lady escaped to earth to live a normal life.

Author's comments: Another new character for the series. That%u2019s all I%u2019m saying for now.

Geg Rytthew and Arthur Liquida

Silrun briefly went to school. While he was there he met Geg and Arthur who both helped show him around. They managed to learn Silrun%u2019s secrets but kept them to themselves.

Author's comments: In AV2, Geg and Arthur were added into the second storyline as friends of Silrun. They were taught how to fight by him and joined him in some battles. They are based on two of my oldest online friends. At this moment it is unknown if they%u2019ll have a similar fate as their %u201CAV2%u201D counterparts.

Therony Dragonner

Originally introduced as a teacher in the school Silrun original attends. However he is actually an ancient Dragon in human form that, over the many centuries, has had many ties to the Paladins and the Chosen Ones. He was sent to guide Silrun, but lost track of him due to an incident that lead to Silrun travelling the world to become stronger.

Author's comments: Another new character based on a friend of mine, :iconTherony:, whom I met on a forum. I originally had big plans for him but kinda forgot about him and started to use Weapon more. I%u2019ll probably make him show up more now that I%u2019ve remembered him.

The Paladins

A mysterious group of Holy warriors. They were the ones who originally created the Chosen One power and have had many ties to it over the centuries. However Silrun has little to do with them, with the exception of Jeremy, son of their leader Timothy.

Author's comments: Nothing much to say really.
